Professional Journey: From the Malpensa Runway to Leading Aermeccanica
Origins and Technical Education
Son of Sergio and grandson of Giacomo Pinza, the founders of Aermeccanica, Luca was born into a family deeply rooted in the aviation industry. From childhood, he was immersed in the world of hangars, workshops, and technical warehouses, naturally developing familiarity with the language and rhythms of the sector.
In 1983, he graduated as an aeronautical technician from the “Alessandro Volta” Technical Institute in Alessandria. Shortly after, he chose to serve the state as an Auxiliary Policeman at the Malpensa Border Police, a brief but formative experience that instilled in him discipline, a sense of duty, and observational skills.
Joining the Company and Hands-On Training
After completing his military service, Luca officially joined Aermeccanica. Although he could have taken on a leadership role right away, he chose to start from the ground up. He began as a technician in non-destructive testing (NDT), which allowed him to develop a solid understanding of aeronautical components.
Over the years, he obtained certifications to work as Certifying Staff for strategic departments such as wheels, brakes, and batteries. This “hands-on” approach became an integral part of his work philosophy: understanding the details in order to guide and manage effectively.
